Philanthropy
The founders of AIO believed that as citizens and residents of the land of opportunity it is our job to help those who are not as lucky. Helping those who are not as blessed as our own brothers, people who do not have the ability to attend college or better their lives as well as individuals who thru birth have been systemically diminished in confidence and character.
Alpha Iota Omicron works to bring the attention of the community to not only the brothers, but also to all those that can help, in order to focus on the problems in society as well as problems that plague the world. By giving back to the community and campus we are not only contributing but also raising awareness for various causes and organizations.
Leading by example, AIO strives to organize and execute community service events to show our appreciation and dedication for others. Our current philanthropic efforts for Fall 2007 include the following:
American Cancer Society- India Initiative
- Raised money though the ACS Run
- Helped raise over $16,000 in sponsorship money, and over $4,000 in personal contributions.
- Money raised was used to benefit patients who could not afford cancer screening tests.
ACS Run
Vibha “The Dream Mile”
- Coordinated a charity 5km Run/Walk
- Money raised was used to benefit educational development projects in rural India.
C.R.Y (Child Relief and You) – Hoops4 CRY
- Coordinated a charity basketball tournament
- Money generated helped benefit children’s relief projects
AIDS Walk Atlanta
- Volunteered to help co-ordinate charity Run/Walk
- Money generated was used to help empower HIV positive Georgians to live independent, productive lives, and to deliver world class educational programs that help stop the spread of HIV by reducing at-risk behaviors in targeted populations.

Alpha Iota Omicron assisted Project Open Hand with the packaging and preperation of food that reached thousands of unfortunate people in the Atlanta region who otherwise would not have been able to enjoy a healthy meal.
